Climbing Mt. Fuji

August 31, 1999

Tara decided that she was going to climb Mt. Fuji this year. Seth had no interest in all at climbing with her, but he encouraged her. After climbing Mt. Ishiwari (reccommended), Mt. Oogusu and one of the Three Peaks of Mt. Takamizu she still wasn't sure that she could make it up Fuji san. Even so, she wanted to try.

Since Seth didn't want to climb and most of her friend's from work had climbed the previous year, she needed to find other people to climb with. In the end, she joined a group of foreigners from the XXXX club. For some reason, we'd been receiving a magazine from this club quarterly. The club organized travel event and Tara had always thought they looked like interesting day trips to join. Their one magazine, that had been sitting in the bathrooms for months, had a description of an overnight Mt. Fuji climb on Friday night, August 31st. Tara called the club on Thursday and arranged to join them on Friday.

Tara took the day off of work to rest before taking the subway to meet everyone in front of the WAVE building in Roppongi at 6pm. She would return to the WAVE building approximately 19 hour later, hobble to a taxi and collapse on the floor the minute she cross the threshold at home.
